Chairman Chris Highton welcomed a healthy turn out of members to the 2011 Selkirk Cricket Club AGM, last friday night in the clubrooms. There was a minutes silence at the start of the night in memory of life member Graham Bateman who passed away in the last year as well as some other noteable members of the club.
In his remarks the chairman thanked the hard work of Treasurer Joyce Wright, Malcolm Ford for running the bar, As well as everyone who helped out from cutting grass, preparing wickets, preparing players teas, serving behind the bar, looking after machinery and those who helped out with repairs.
He then went on to point out that the improvements to the clubrooms in the last year, with new windows in the Lounge and Kitchen, A new Gas boiler and the changing rooms decorated. He then added that plans were underway for upgrading of the electrics and heating pipework.
On the playing front it was reported that the 2010 season had seen an improvement with the 1st team reaching the final or the South of Scotland 20/20 as well as the Border 6's and the 2nd team had won the Reserve league. This year will also see a new club captain with John Everitt taking over the 1st team captain's job from Kenny Paterson.
